Lazy Rich

Lazy Rich, you’ve had quite the year. You’ve had an incredible amount of
production success. What do you feel was the turning point when people really
started to take notice?

Yeah, last year was fantastic for sure. I think things have been going great for me ever
since my remix of Fatboy Slim’s ‘Weapon of Choice’ a couple of years back, since then
I’ve been working on music full time and have been pretty consistent with my releases.

A lot of your recognition has come from your series of popular remixes, including
Fatboy Slim’s ‘Weapon of Choice’. Is remixing an important part of your skill set as
a producer/ DJ?

It’s a great way to get noticed for sure, as an upcoming artist it’s really useful to have
your name associated with bigger names, and so having my name listed next to someone
as big as Fatboy Slim really benefitted my career.

Myagi – Ape and Essence Remix Parts Charity Release

These parts are available as a pay-what-you-like product.

I’ve wrestled a lot with how to make these parts available to people. These are the same packs given to the official remixers for the album and represent a large body of work on the Myagi end and as a result are hard to put a price tag on. Because of this, I figured it would be a great opportunity to take a pay-what-you-like approach to distribution, with all proceeds going to a charity I’ve admired for years because of their cause, dedication and integration of the arts (in particular music) into what they do.

As a result, payment is in the form of a donation to War Child Canada, who have given me the thumbs up on this offer. Donation is NOT mandatory to download these parts, but this is a very worthwhile organization to give to.

War Child strives to empower children and young people to flourish within their communities and overcome the challenges of living with, and recovering from, conflict. To achieve this, War Child works collaboratively with those communities to increase access to education, overcome the obstacles of poverty and create a protective environment for the rights of children and youth.

Bass Machines – Reproduction EP

This Original EP Release from Bass Machines out NOW on Capital Boom
Records, Reproduction, is a razor sharp moombahcore track. The drums
hit hard and the bass lines cut through you like a ninja with a light
sabre. With a unique blend of different genres, incorporating fattened
reggaeton snares, exaggerated moombah beat, strong sharp bass line and
the signature “reproduction”, bring together a great release.

Dr. Ozi offer a great take on the original bringing a smashing
drumstep remix of “Reproduction” to the table, and definitely shows how
Dr. Ozi holds no bar. Incorporating much of the original track and
managing to still make it as unique sounding as possible, this is
definitely some of the duo’s greatest work.

On the B side, Bass Machines create a song, “Cheerleader”, that takes you
on a journey through nice melodies, hard edged bass lines and original
sound design like no other. The fist drop is enough to get a dance
floor going crazy, and when the second drop comes around it becomes a sure fire
tsunami making anything in front of it move.
